‘I have nobody – I need someone’

Amanda ToddBenny and Rafi Fine, producers of the REACT video series, have sharpened the focus on teen bullying and suicide with a 14:43 video in which teenagers react to the viral Amanda Todd cyber-bullying video.

Todd was a 15-year-old Canadian girl who was found dead in her home in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Oct. 10, 2012, more than a month after she posted an 8:54 video entitled “My story: Struggling, bullying, suicide, self harm.” Since her death, the video has been viewed more than 6 million times.

From a Christian perspective, the Fine brothers’ video provides a raft of distressing insights into the world of at-risk teens, the callous spirits of those who prey on and persecute them, and the malfeasance of adults and conscientious teens who failed to rescue Amanda from her torment. Very few media moments are as powerful as this in illustrating the captivity of teens today — and their desperate need for the liberating Good News of new life in Christ.
