‘In his name all oppression shall cease’
As you sing the traditional carols of Christmas during Advent season, please be sure to sing these words from the third stanza of O Holy Night:
Truly he taught us to love one another,
His law is love and his gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother, And in his name all oppression shall cease.
May this be the year we truly make his mission statement our own:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.” (Luke 4:18-19 NLT)
